The Egyptian parliament has preliminarily approved a new law to establish a supreme council for combating terrorism. The law aims to mobilize all the country’s forces not only to rid the country of terrorist elements, but also to contain extremist and radical ideologies.

US President Donald Trump has declared dead the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that protected immigrants brought to the nation illegally as children. The program was introduced by former US President Barack Obama’s administration.

3. (a) Turkey
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the construction of Turkey’s first-ever nuclear power plant in Mersin region, a large port city on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey.

4. (d) Chocolate
A recent study has revealed that chocolates may be significantly harming the environment, as the chocolate industry is reportedly producing tonnes of greenhouse gases in a year. The study found that the UK chocolate industry alone produces about 2.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gases a year.

The Indian Army on April 3, 2018 signed a Memorandum of Undertaking (MoU) with HDFC Bank on the Defence Salary Package. Under the MoU, apart from other benefits the Army personnel will get free personal accident death cover and free permanent disability cover of Rs 30 lakhs, free educational cover of upto Rs 1 Lakh per year for four years for education of dependent child in case of accidental death of defence personnel and 100% processing fees waived for Car Loans and Personal Loans.

NASA would be building a manned supersonic aircraft, which would be quieter and may not cause an ear-shattering sonic boom. The space agency would be granting a $247.5 million contract to Lockheed Martin, an American aerospace and defense group, to design and build the new plane.

India received first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo comprising 1.2 Lakh tones of the Gas from United States. The cargo landed at the Dabhol regasification terminal in Maharashtra.
