Veteran director Shekhar Kapur has been appointed chairman of the central panel of the 65th National Film Awards. The central panel comprises a chairperson and 10 other members, including five regional chairpersons who head the respective regional panels.

The latest Australian ball-tampering scandal has incited heavy punishment with Cricket Australia slapping a one-year international ban on Australian skipper Steve Smith and Vice-captain David Warner. Smith and Bancroft would now have to wait for a minimum of two years before being considered for team leadership roles, while Warner has been barred from holding any leadership role in the future.

The Union Government has unveiled plans to sell up to 76 percent stake in Air India and transfer the management control to private players, starting the ambitious strategic disinvestment process for the debt-laden national carrier.
4. (a) GSAT-6A
The Indian Space Research Organisation on March 29, 2018 launched communication satellite GSAT-6A from Sriharikota, around 105 km away from Chennai. The satellite will provide a platform for developing technologies such as demonstration of the 6-metre S-Band Unfurlable Antenna, hand-held ground terminals and network management techniques that could be useful in satellite-based mobile communication applications.

The NITI Aayog has launched the baseline ranking for 101 aspirational districts based on 49 indicators across several sectors including health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development and basic infrastructure.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of Department of School Education and Literacy to formulate a new Integrated Scheme on School Education. It would be valid from April 1, 2018 until March 31, 2020.
7. (a) Tamil Nadu
An insect museum with the state-of-the-art amenities was launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswamy at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The museum, established at a 6,691 sqft area with a total cost of Rs 5 crore, is fully dedicated to insects and is first of its kind in the country.
8. (b) Ministry of Power
The Union Ministry of Power on March 27, 2018 tied-up with the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to train the manpower in six states for speedy implementation of Saubhagya Scheme.
Saubhagya Scheme is also known as Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana. Around 4 crore households are expected to get electricity connections under the scheme.

Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan was appointed as the principal scientific adviser to the government of India. Vijay Raghavan will succeed physicist Rajagopala Chidambaram who served the position for more than 16 years.
10. (d) Jawad Rahim
The Supreme Court appointed Justice Jawad Rahim as the new acting chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The new acting chairperson will discharge his duties until a regular appointment is made and will take part in selection process of other members of the NGT.
11. (a) Japan
The Department of Posts under Ministry of Communications launched Cool EMS Service between India and Japan. It is one-way service from Japan to India which allows customers in India to import Japanese food items for personal use which is allowed under Indian regulations.
12. (b) Asian Development Bank
The Government of India (GoI) has signed $80 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to help modernize technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions and improve the skills ecosystem in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
