The Gulf Shield – 1 military exercise of 23 countries including Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states was held in Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia. It was organised by Ministry of Defence of Saudi Arabia. The one month long exercise was largest military drill in the region, as it saw participation of ground, naval and air forces of the participating countries.

Indian actress Katrina Kaif has been named as the new ambassador of the international award-winning non-profit organisation, Educate Girls. For over a decade now, the NGO has been partnering with the Indian government in bringing out-of-school girls back to school.
